Fair Condition/No Dust Jacket. 1st Edition of the "With 31 photographs by Herbert Ponting", the first illustrated edition, with the now well-known selection of photographs by Ponting, was published in 1938 and has been several times reissued. Scarce. xi, 284 pages, frontispiece plus 7 plate leaves. Folding map tipped into rear cover. Original cloth binding with blue titling, blue end papers, no dust jacket. Covers faded and stained. Ink inscription on front end paper. page edges spotted, DAMP DAMAGED at bottom of some pages which has resulted in some of the plates being stuck, sold as a Reading Copy only First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series.
