From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number on the front paste down; The Spawning Run is the story of a young man, Billy, and his dog, Scout. Billy is recovering from a serious car accident that left him hospitalized for months. While he's recuperating, he spends his time reading, watching TV, and spending time with his loyal dog, Scout. When Billy is released from the hospital, he's eager to get back to his normal life. However, his normal life is no longer an option. Billy is now forced to convalesce at his parents' house, which is only a few miles from his old home. While there, he meets a young girl, Emily, and her dog, Tigger. Emily is a recovering addict and her home is a mess. Billy and Emily start to become friends and share their stories. Eventually, they all decide to head home, but Billy's car won't start. Billy is forced to walk home, and the journey is filled with adventure. Along the way, he meets a cast; B & W Illustrations; 12mo .
