Description

London: Martin Secker, 1925. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. A smart edition of D. H. Lawrence's novella, in the publisher's original binding. This work consists of two short stories, 'St Mawr' and 'The Princess'. Both written during the author's time in the United States between 1922 and 1925, 'St Mawr' tells the tale of Lou Witt as she leaves behind a dead marriage and England, broken by the Great War, and meets a stallion called St. Mawr.David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) was an English writer and poet, known for controversy caused by the sexual nature of his work, which at the end of his life was misunderstood, leading him to undertake self-imposed exile. His best know work was 'Lady Chatterley's Lover', which was banned in many Western countries due to its obscenity. With the original printed error stating that St. Mawr starts on page nine; it begins on page seven. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, a small crack to the head of the spine and minor bumping to the tail and extremities. Some residual adhesive to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean with just the occasional spot. Very Good
