"This Edition Consists of 350 Copies, of Which 100 Only Are For Sale in America" - with signature of author S. R. Crockett below. Clean golden brown cloth boards with gold decoration on cover, gold lettering on cover and spine. 1-1/4" split at front spine fold (carefully reglued); some chipping/fraying to cloth at spine ends. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Beautiful sepia frontis illustration with tissue guard. Printed on smooth, quality paper - pages are clean and bright; endpapers are foxed but free of any names, writing or marks. Many beautiful full page illustrations throughout. 290 pages with glossary..
