Oblong, glossy white wraps with color illus. and slate lettering. 254 pp. with 88 bw illus. and several color images. The De Stijl Environment explores the Dutch magazine, De Stijl's, approach to exterior and interiior spaces and to furniture. It treats such themes as color, abastraction, and the corner, and describes the various collaborative efforts within the movement. Among the painters discussed are Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, Vilmos Huszar, and Bart van der Leck. Architects included are Gerrit Rietveld, Rob van 't Hoff, Jan Wils, J.J. P. Oud, and Cornelis van Eesteren.
