The Newport, New Hamsphire, Hospital began with the generosity of William H Wright in memory of his wife, Carrie F Wright. It opened in 1910. Three years later an organization was formed, the Newport Hospital Auxiliary, to help raise funding for needed equipment. A new hopital was built in 1952, with 2 additions completed in 1974. The hospital is closed but the Auxiliary continues with volunteers managing and staffing their Thrift Shoppe, donating proceeds still to health and medical related community needs, including scholarships.
