"The Story of Sigurd the Volsung and the Fall of the Niblungs" (1876) is an epic poem by William Morris, spanning over 10,000 lines. It recounts the tragic tale of the Norse hero Sigmund, his son Sigurd, and Sigurd's wife Gudrun, inspired by the Volsunga Saga and the Elder Edda. It is regarded as one of Morris' best literary endeavours and is rare in early printings such as this. Very Good Condition. Dark blue cloth with lettering plate to spine. Previous owner's pen marks to front free end paper. Binding is firm and pages are clean. Deckled edge. Boards have light edge-wear with minor crushing to spine ends. General marks to boards such as spots and moderate scratchtings.
