It introduces the layman to behind the surgery scenes and recounts procedures at which even the veteran surgeon might stand agast. I can imagne no liverlier or wittier, and yet learned style of writing than that with which the author is endowed. " One of the main features of this book is the 24 pages of b/w illustrations, many of them reproductions of old paintings, depicting surgical proceedings going as far back as Ancient Egypt, all printed on one side of the page only. First two owners inked names on inside of front cover.
