Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1934. First American Edition. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Arthur Hawkins, Jr. (dust jacket illustrator). 8vo. Pp. 308 followed by four pages of publisher ads. Bound in black cloth with green lettering stamped on front board and spine. A tad shaken, with two scuffs on front free endpaper. In the dust jacket, well preserved but with wear to head and tail of spine (Please see photo.). First American edition of an Oppenheim page-turner, "with ingenious twists and intriguing clues, spiced by the presence of a charming hussey." The dust jacket, with a cool Arthur Hawkins, Jr. illustration of a ghostly, abstract figure ascending a staircase, is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
