About This Item

New York: New Directions, 1947. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Fifth printing. Near fine with slight bumps to the head and tail of the spine in a very good dustwrapper with a little darkening to the spine and some edgewear, with one internal tape repair. Pulitzer Prize-winning drama highspot, basis for innumerable revivals and an explosive Elia Kazan film featuring Marlon Brando, Vivien Leigh, Karl Malden, and Kim Hunter. Ironically, Brando, in his signature performance, was the only one of the quartet who didn't win an Oscar.

Synopsis

Considered to be Williams’ most popular work, it is one of the best and most critically successful plays of the 20th century. The play has inspired many adaptations in other forms, notably producing an acclaimed film that was released in 1951.
