About This Item

Blankenese, Germany: Friedrich Becker, 1927. First edition. Hardcover. Rebacked: original cloth laid down on boards, new cloth backstrip. Very good. xii + 173p (including 38p index), no ills. Cover edges shelf-rubbed. In English and German. No jacket, as issued. Very sturdy; a much better copy than is often found. The second and final volume in the series. Lists over 16,000 horses (all indexed) with summary family information. To come up with his listings, Becker analyzed the bloodlines of successful runners in Germany, France, England, and Ireland in 1923-1925. His tabulations, which are coded with abbreviations and symbols, are complicated to follow, but the book is clearly a monumental accomplishment, all pre-computer of course. Very large (10 x 15 inches); shipping/handling will be extra. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
