Description

London: Viking, 1989. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9" by 5.5". None. The first UK edition of Elizabeth Jolley's subversive fiction novel about a professor who finds himself becoming obsessed with the daughter of his neighbour. The first UK edition, first impression with a complete numberline. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. This novel was written by Elizabeth Jolley, an Australian author, and tells the story of Edwin, whose wife leaves for a medical fellowship, and finds himself hosting his neighbour and her daughter who have locked themselves out of their house. When Edwin becomes passionately obsessed with the daughter and finds her to be pregnant, he decides to turn her into his surrogate mother. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely with only minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and fading to the head of the boards. The wrap is very smart with sunning to the head and spine, minor shelf wear, slight handling marks and a closed tear to the rear. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Near Fine
