Very Good/No jacket, as issued/In mylar protector. Slightly shaken, internally very good with trace amounts of foxing, pencil owner. Summer vacation cruise (with land stops) of then Washington Correspondent for the New York Tribune with an undisclosed Professor of Marine Zoology, from Cape Cod to Maine and in between written in journal form. Carter previously was Coeditor for the Boston Evening Telegraph, and with friend James Russell Lowell started The Pioneer, A literary and critical magazine. [Note: new edition issued 1888 with Rossiter Johnson introduction and folding map]..
