About the author

David Wisniewski was an artist who worked as a clown and shadow puppeteer before turning to cut paper illustration and children's books. He died on September 11, 2002. He was 49 and lived in Maryland. His many children's books include The Secret Knowledge of Grown-ups, Tough Cookie, and Golem, which won the 1997 Caldecott Medal.
