London: Talmy, Franklin Limited, 1972. NF/NF. 1st/1st. First UK edition 1st printing of the late author's fifth book and his personal favorite. Titled Black Sun in the U.S. Book is Near Fine. Unread. One tip bumped otherwise tight and straight with even pages and clean. No writing, bookplate, embossed seal or marks and nor BCE, ex-library or remaindered. Dust jacket is unclipped (£2.10) and Near Fine. Very mild rubbing to back panel and minute edgewear to spine base (see photos.) Protected in a Brodart Mylar cover. Scarce in the UK edition and a beautiful copy.
A beautiful, bittersweet love story, is about a forest ranger (loner, iconoclast, lover of the rugged life) who falls for an utterly beguiling freckle-faced princess half his age.
