Signed second printing of this book that rode the crest of the US surf craze, explaining the techniques of the sport as well as its Hawaiian history. Don't let the suit-and-tie portrait on the rear flap fool you: O. B. Patterson did his fair share of hanging ten as "an active surfer for many years in both Hawaii and California" (flap). 8'' x 8''. Original blue and white boards. Original price-clipped color pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated in black and white. 150 pages. Signed by Patterson to front flyleaf. Jacket with light edgewear and mild chipping to corners and spine ends; one 1" closed tear, a hint of warping to lamination. Binding with a bit of edgewear. Interior clean and bright.
