The scarce first edition of this work, from antiquary, author, numismatist and politician Browne Willis, who sat in the House of Commons from 1705 to 1708. One of his best known works was 'The Whole Duty of Man'.Illustrated with two engraved folding plates. Collated, complete.ESTC Citation No. T93604With advertisement leaf to the rear.A detailed survey of the 1,400 year old Anglican cathedral, which was rebuilt in the thirteenth century after the original building was burnt by soldiers of King Edward I during the Second Welsh War. Rebound in half morocco, with marbled paper covered boards. Endpapers renewed. Fading to back strip, with a touch of rubbing to board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Title page significantly age toned, with further age toning throughout, and light spotting. Very Good
