London Richard Bentley 1886. Book. Very Good. Decorative Cloth. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Original blue gilt decorated cloth, bit of spotting, and internal hinge paper is cracked. But a very clean, solid copy. A fine history of Syria and Palestine published for the Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund. Conder's approach was to ignore Hebrew literature, basing his archaeological history on the evidence only of uncovered monuments and inscriptions, etc. Illustrated by 29 illustrations, 3 folding maps. first edition..
