Toronto: Clarke, Irwin & Company, Ltd.. Good with no dust jacket. 1949. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. 248 pp. Signed in green ink on the table page under the printed name which Davies has crossed out, with the date Dec 16: 1949 in the same ink. Original first issue dark red cloth with silver gilt to spine. Corners rubbed, spine a little faded and gilt worn in spots. Interior has owner inscript on first free ep, paper is tone but otherwise clean and unmarked. Jolly decorations by Clair Stewart. The book is a continuation of the Marchbanks chronicle, with cranky amusing essays on various aspects of daily life. A respectable copy of the first Canadian edition with a very nice early signature. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 248 pages .
