About This Item

Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 1968. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Several photographs and half-tone illustrations by the author. Following service at the front with the U.S. Army in World War I, Biddle traveled to Tahiti in 1920, settled in a native village, learned the local dialect and painted for two years. His journal documents his development as an artist and furnishes valuable insights into Tahitian culture. Faint erasure to the front flyleaf. The dust jacket is lightly edgeworn; otherwise very good or better.
