About This Item

New York: Lehmann Books, 1958. Hardcover. Designed by John De Cuir and Dale Hennesy. 4to. Yellow and white pictorial paper over boards. 63pp. Frontispiece, numerous illustrations (some color), decorated endpapers. Very good. Binding tight but slightly rubbed. Tight and nice first edition of this entertaining, heavily-illustrated "scrapbook" of the romantic musical film version of "South Pacific" -- with a choice autograph twist: Affixed to a special heavy stock sheet tipped in before the first text page are bold signatures of three cast members, all on fine matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards. Top to bottom: JOHN KERR (1931-2013, who plays Lt. Joseph Cable), who signs in black fineline and dates it 18 January 1974 at upper right; FLOYD M. SIMMONS (1923-2008, two-time bronze-medal winning Olympic decathlon athlete who plays Commander Bill Harbison), who signs in black fineline and dates it 28 June 1985 at upper right; and RAY WALSTON (1914-2001, who plays Luther Billis but is best known as television's "My Favorite Martian"), who signs in blue ballpoint and dates it 8 February 1990 at upper right. Laid in are two ideal bookmarks: Kerr and Walston's original transmittal envelopes. A sharp, most unusual copy.
