Bound in full calf, with gilt detailing to the boards and to the spine. Complete in three volumes. The fourth and last series of Tales of My Landlord, collected and arranged by Jedediah Cleishbotham, schoolmaster and parish-clerk of Gandercleuch. Written by Sir Walter Scott, the famed author of Waverley, under one of his pseudonyms, Jedediah Cleishbotham, who serves as Scott's imaginary editor in this particular series. This work is comprised of Volume I, 'Count Robert of Paris', Volume II, 'Count Robert of Paris' and Volume III, 'Castle Dangerous'. These two works also feature as the penultimate and the last of Scott's Waverley novels. With a bookplate of Elizabeth Wolfe to the front paste down, and an ink inscription of Charles Lacy to the front endpaper of each volume. Bound in full calf, with gilt detailing to the boards and to the spine. Externally, generally smart, with slight rubbing to the extremities and to the joints. Front joint cracked to volume I. A touch of fading and rubbing to the spine. The odd mark to boards, heavier to volume I. Hinges slightly strained, with front hinge split to volume I between front blanks. Spine label detaching to volume I, with slight loss to the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with light age toning to the extremities and the occasional spotting. Good
