1933 1ed Edgar Allen Poe Tales of Mystery Clarke COLOR Illustrated Macabre
"But as, in ethics, evil is a consequence of good, so, in fact, out of joy is sorrow born. Either the memory of past bliss is the anguish of today, or the agonies which are have their origin in the ecstasies which might have been."
― Edgar Allan Poe, Berenice
This incredible illustrated edition of the "Tales of Mystery" by Edgar Allan Poe includes 32 bizarre images and paintings by Harry Clark depicting horror and demise! This book published many times during the 20th-century, features Poe's short horror stories, such as Berenice – a story of incest, festering diseases, violence, and other disturbing esoteric themes! There are twenty-nine tales in total including "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Murders in the Rue Morgue", "The Fall of the House of Usher", and "The Descent into the Maelstrom."

An impressive, folio printing of the music of Franz Joseph Haydn.
Haydn is, without question, one of the most important and recognized figures in the history of classical music. Haydn's only mistake was composing and performing at the same time as Mozart. However, Haydn's music is still highly playable and enjoyed around the world.
This tome is the viola part to Haydn's string quartets and sonatas. These books were published around 1830 in Paris.

"All wizards and witches are the professed and sworn enemies of God. O prince, O King, let not witches live!"
– Jeremias Drexel
Jeremias Drexel was a 17th-century Jesuit writer and preacher, who ultimately gave up preaching to teach and write. His works surround Christian living, truth, and virtues of life. Drexel also wrote several works relating to heaven, Christian zodiac, and the unknowns of eternity. 'Caelum Beatorum Civitas Aeternitatis' is a treatise on heaven, the behaviors and attributes of God, the joys of experiencing God, and the keys to eternal life.

A scarce printing of William Paley's famous Christian apologetics work, 'Natural Theology'. A scientific and philosophical treatise, this title is commonly referenced amongst scholars when discussing the history and development of the modern understanding of scientific evolution. Significantly influenced by naturalist John Ray's work, Paley further developed Ray's ideas by proposing that the oft-observed complex adaptations seen in plants and animals were evidence of benevolent divine design. Notably, this work is also the origin of the "watchmaker analogy" a now, well-known, and commonly used teleological argument.
This rare, illustrated edition includes the highly-desired companion collection of 40 engraved plates by James Paxton that were originally independently published in 1826.

The work that helped establish the 'steampunk' movement!
Much more so known for his popular titles, such as "20,000 Leagues" and "Around the World," this Jules Verne novel has a much smaller, but loyal cult following. "The Steam House" takes place in the aftermath of the Indian Rebellion from 1857, but the novelty ensues as the story revolves around a huge steam-powered mechanical elephant! This work has been known by its alternate titles including "The End of Nana Sahib," however, this edition of the second part uses the more traditional title, 'Tigers and Traitors'.

Gustave Dore first began publishing Bible illustrations in 1865 in France, but because of their immense popularity, they would see reissues for decades and all over the western world. Most of these large, multi-volume Bibles, that contained nearly 250 engravings, were too heavy and expensive for the common buyer, so smaller products were published that featured only illustrations and no Bible text. These became the 'Dore Bible Gallery' editions.
Dore's Bible illustrations had a direct effect on early 20th-century biblical based films, drawing influence and costume design from Dore's portrayal of Bible characters.
