The first UK edition of this work, first published the year prior in the US under the title 'Slain by the Doons'.Illustrated with a title page printed in red and black, retaining the original tissue guard.An anthology of short tales by famous English novelist Richard Doddridge Blackmore, known for his descriptions and personifications of the countryside and his novel Lorna Doone. Featuring four tales: 'Slain by the Doones,' 'Frida,' 'George Bowring,' and 'Crocker's Hole.' With a partially removed bookplate to the front pastedown, and a former owner's inscription to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with slight discolouration to spine, and minor ink marks to tail of front board. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
