Designed for young readers, the author (who also illustrated each tale), examines the stories behind the carvings on the totem poles of First Nations peoples in British Columbia, as recounted by the Indians (author's term) themselves. Orig. published in 1944, this is a 1966 reprint, identical in all aspects. Slim (96 numbered pages) hardcover 8vo with light orange cloth-covered boards & black design to front/lettering to spine is in Near Fine condition: quite clean, binding straight & strong, pages white with just a whisper of tanning, unmarked save for a gift inscription to ffep. Corners crisp. The unclipped DJis VG, with slight rubbing to extremities & light soil; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
