Spine sunned, with a spot of fading or staining to the rear board and some light sunning and bumping to the edges and corners; a couple of gatherings just a bit sprung, some light soiling and spotting; a very good copy.. 8vo, original blind-stamped blue-green cloth, gilt spine, 300, 12, 48 pages. Frontis, five plates by Frederick M. Coffin. A satirical novel poking fun at abolitionists and suffragists, with digressive attacks on progressive authors, spiritualists, and domestic upheaval of all stripes. Wright II, 2020, this copy including the 48-page promotional excerpt of the Wanzer, McKim novel The Montgomerys (including its separate title page) at the end. Front blank excised.
