Blofeld was born in London, England, and was educated at Eton College and Oxford University. He became interested in Eastern philosophy and spirituality at a young age, and he began studying Chinese and Japanese language and culture in his twenties. Blofeld lived in China and Japan for many years, and he became fluent in both languages.
