Reviews
On May 12 2020, a reader said:
The lonely prospector with his faithful companion, the lowly burro, receives the respect and admiration they so richly deserve in the title story in this collection of five short stories or novellas. The character of Tappan is your usual grizzled, haunted by the past, type; but his faithfulness and loyalty to his beloved partner more than makes up for the stereotype. Jenet, the burro, has a most prominent role in the story, and this story is as good as the ones ZG wrote about the lion dog, Don, or the wild stallion, Wildfire. The other stories in this collection are just as good, and these people come to life as only Zane Grey can make it happen. A solid group of tales of adventure ranging from the desert Southwest to the jungles of Central America. I recommend this book most highly.
