London: William Kimber, 1959. 204 pages, 8 pages of b/w photos, appendix. Place and date by the upper edge of the half-title page. Newspaper cuttings ('Malta Convoy') taped to the Foreword verso and the Contents page, its verso and the title page. Text on the Contents and Title pages affected and there are tape stains. Additonal notes/corrections, most in English, written in pencil or blue biro in the margins on about five pages. Papered boards in edge-worn and price-clipped dust-jacket. The full story of the night of 11 November 1940 when 20 naval planes from A British aircraft carrier 170 miles away inflicted more damage on the Italy fleet lying at Taranto than the German Navy suffered in daylight at the Battle of Jutland. This British victory altered the course of the naval war in the Mediterranean, shattered a dictator's dream and laid the groundwork for ultimate Allied vidtory in North Africa. The Royal Navy now added air power to sea power.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Very Good. 8vo.
