Not Stated: Frederick Warne & Co., 1970. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 10.5" by 8". W. Heaton Cooper. An illustrated account of the tarns of the Lake District, written, illustrated and signed by W. Heaton Cooper. William Heaton Cooper (1903-1995) was an English impressionistic landscape artist who mostly used water colours and was renowned for his work depicting the Lake District. This work details a number of the tarns, small lakes in the mountains. He used his geological knowledge in his depictions, and was fascinated by the light of the Lake District. His father, Alfred Heaton Cooper, was also a landscape painter.This work has been signed by the author to the half title page.Profusely illustrated with sixteen colour plates, which are all present, and eighty-seven drawings by the author. In a full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, minor wear to the tail of the spine and extremities. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine, with wear to tht edges and tape repairs to the heads and tails of the spine and folds, with a tear along the spine which has been taped. Internally firmly bound, author's signature to the half title page. Half title has some damage from a removed label which does not affect the signature. Internally firmly bound, pages bright and clean. Near Fine
