Moderate rubbing to, scuffing of tips, edges, spine head and foot. Gilt edges all round. Handsome penned gift inscription at first free endpaper. Moderate, uniform foxing throughout. Two title pages, at the second, a fetching black-and-white engraving of a young lass ogling a caged bird, and another at frontis, tissue-guarded. Plentiful additional black-and-white plates, also tissue-guarded, by Cheney, Cushman et al., after drawings by John Gilbert. 324 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
