Montrose, Caliornia: Woods Music & Books, Inc, 1992. Eighth Edition Printing . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 8" X 10 3/4. Friou, Linda - Cover Art. 80 Pages. Plastic spiral binding. Many people feel drawn to the magical and spiritual qualities of the harp, which has come to us through the mists of time. In my travels around the world playing the Celtic harp, I have observed an exciting resurgence of interest in folk harps. A growing number of craftsmen are making harps, and more and more people are learning to play them. Everywhere I have performed, people have approached me asking for information on where to obtain harps and how to play them. I enjoy being able to help people realize their dreams of becoming harpers; that is why I have written this book. You don't need a teacher or any previous musical training to learn to play the harp (although either of these will be helpful). This book will teach you what you need to know. Each lesson is a bit more advanced than the previous one. Every once in a while the pieces will seem to be a lot harder than the ones before. Try not to let this discourage you. Look on the more difficult pieces as challenges that will help expand your abilities. Pieces like Scarborough Fair, Trip to Sligo, and Shenandoah are not easy to master; but once you do, you will have accomplished a great deal. This book teaches you the basics of folk harp playing.
