The back cover has Brandus et Cie, successors de Maurice Schlesinger et de E. Troupenas et Cie.

On title page Maurice Schlesinger, rue Richelieu 97, where Brandus worked (1846-1848) and Milan F. Lucca.

This Parisian music publishing company originated in 1846 as Brandus & Cie. when Louis Brandus purchased the publisher Maurice Schlesinger.

There is a faint ink stamped Brandus et Dufour on title page, from 1854.

In October 1850 Louis's younger brother, Gemmy, became a partner, and the firm of Troupenas was acquired. In 1854 Sélim-François Dufour became a partner and the firm was known as G. Brandus, Dufour & Cie. and, since 1858, as G. Brandus & S. Dufour.

There are 3 embossed stamps of Duncan Davison and Co. The office of the Musical World. 244 Regent Street, where he worked1863 to 1885.

Brandus continued Schlesinger's chronological series of plate numbers, starting at 4293 in 1846 and continuing to 13,167 in 1887.

This copy has the plate number MS 2426.

Therefore the publication date is 1846, a first edition of the book block. Issued between 1850 and 1854 and sold after 1858.

Il templario is an Italian-language opera by the German composer Otto Nicolai from a libretto written by Girolamo Maria Marini based on Walter Scott's Ivanhoe.

Il templario received its premiere performances at the Teatro Regio, Turin in 1840, and continued on a successful run through Italy, rivaling Pacini's Saffo. However, it disappeared for over 160 years until it was reconstructed in 2006 and performed in 2008.

Front cover is yellowed, chipped in places, water stained, and detached. front title page has a `1` written at the top. The block is loose in 2 or 3 places. The back cover has some chips.
