About This Item

Koln: Taschen, 2008. First edition. Hardcover. Fine. The LARGE FORMAT facsimile of a work originally issued in parts from 1799 to 1807 by Robert John Thornton [1768-1837], an English physician and botanical writer. The plates in the Temple of Flora are remarkable. The images are works of art that used multiple intaglio techniques, the flowers always the center of attention, but with dreamy landscapes behind describing the habitat of the plant.

Large format edition, 56 x 44 cm. Pristine and unopened in the original shrink wrapped box. Text in: English, French, Spanish & German. With an essay and description by Werner Dressendörfer. Folio, 44pp, 32 plates on high quality paper, rigid paper folder and decorative case.
