The third issue of this work, following the first edition of 1911. A second issued followed in 1916, this was published after Thomas's death in 1917, omitting the frontispiece. First state with memoir by John Freeman.A collection of studies of love poems by English poets from the twelfth to the nineteenth century, including Geoffrey Chaucer, John Skelton, William Shakespeare to Lord Byron, John Keats, and Percy Bysshe Shelley among others. This was published as part of Thomas's 1910 book 'Feminine Influence on the Poets' (Chapter VIII). Here revised and edited. Edward Thomas was a British writer of poetry and prose. A prolific critic, biographer, nature writer and travel writer as well as poet. He died in battle during the Battle of Arras in 1917 in World War I. He is considered to be a war poet.Two leaves of publisher's advertisements to rear. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with light bumping to head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine
