About This Item
Maryknoll, NY Orbis Books, 1976. Hardcover First Edition USA (1976), unstated. This translation was first published in the UK in 1975. First published in Salamanca, Spain in 1973. Very Near Fine in Very Good+ to Near Fine DJ: The Book shows just a hint of shelving wear to the lower extremities; a tiny, extremely faint spot of soil near the outside edge of the front free endpaper; else, flawless; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome very-nearly-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing only a couple of unobtrusive imperfections. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Virtually "As New". The DJ shows very mild rubbing to a couple of spots; the price has been clipped; else flawless; mylar-protected. Close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (8.75 x 5.85 x 0.8 inches). 146 pages.Translated by Paul Burns. Introduction by Frederick Herzog. The cover photograph of a crucifix in wood and clay by Peruvian sculptor Edilberto Merida is worth the price ten times over. Language: English. Weight: 13.5 ounces. First Edition USA (1976), unstated. This translation was first published in the UK in 1975. First published in Salamanca, Spain in 1973. Hardback with DJ. Hugo Assmann (1933-200) was a Brazilian Catholic theologian and priest who was Professor of Philosophy of Education and Communication at the Methodist University of Piracicaba. He also wrote Practical Theology of Liberation , as well as other books which have not been translated into English. He wrote in the Prefatory Note to this 1973 book, This book aims to be the word of action rather than the action of the word. It tells of our situation as oppressed peoples. It sees faith as the historical process of liberation.
