Original blue wrappers are sunned at extremities and spine, heavily dented, creased with small tears along the edges where the wrappers overlap the text block, two-inch tear along the spine. The wrappers themselves are heavily rubbed and creased. The contents are very good, with two 2-inch tears to one page. Pages very slightly yellowed, no other defects. Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. . Stefan Banach is considered one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century, and his name is attached to several mathematical concepts, including Banach algebra, Banach manifold, Banach spaces, Banach bundle, Banach limit, Banach's matchbox problem, and Banach measure, among others. This book is his greatest achievement, as it established the foundation for complete normed vector space and contributed significantly to the development of functional analysis. A solid copy of a classic work. First edition, in original wraps. Text is in French. . Monografje Matematyczne Series. Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. 254 pages. I1 .
