La theorie de l?art s?est largement constituee par le recit : c'est le cas dans l?Antiquite, ou elle s?est developpee par le biais de fragments biographiques dont certaines ont eu a travers les siecles un succes retentissant. Le recueil Millet, qui rassemble les nombreuses references a l?art que l?on trouve dans les ecrits antiques, est en grande partie une collection d?anecdotes. A partir du quinzieme siecle, la theorie humaniste, qui s?est efforcee de penser a la fois l?activite de l?artiste, l?elaboration de l??uvre et son agencement formel, a eu recours a l?analyse et a l?argumentation plutot qu?au recit, mais elle est loin d?avoir rompu avec le mode narratif : Vasari a fait des emules et, pendant plusieurs siecles, le succes des Vies de peintres ne s?est pas dementi, celui des historiettes exemplaires non plus. Le propos de ce volume est de se pencher sur ces bribes de recit, vehiculees a travers les siecles et les frontieres, pour s?interroger sur leur forme, leur statut, leur diffusion dans toutes sortes d?imprimes, bien au-dela de la Kunstliteratur. Qu?elles portent sur un moment de la vie d?un artiste, sur une rivalite entre deux maitres, sur la reaction d?un commanditaire, sur l?elaboration d?un chef d??uvre ou sur une phase de sa reception, et qu?elles soient isolees ou inserees dans une compilation, ces anecdotes disent quelque chose de ce qu?est ou doit etre l?art. Meme si le propos affiche est de distraire, d?etonner ou d?amuser, elles sont rarement denuees de portee theorique, fut-elle implicite voire inconsciente. Plusieurs approches ont ete adoptees, conduisant tantot a suivre la migration d?une anecdote pour mettre a jour les variations dans l?interpretation et dans la finalite qu?on lui prete ; tantot a examiner sa place et son usage specifiques chez tel theoricien precis ; tantot a definir le statut de l?anecdote dans ses rapports avec l?exemple rhetorique comme dans ses enjeux, apologetiques ou institutionnels ; tantot encore, a interroger la notion d?anecdote visuelle. Dans tous les cas, on s?est efforce de mettre a jour la theorie qui se construit implicitement, en se demandant ce que ces anecdotes permettent de penser que les traites de plein droit ne sauraient elaborer. Bref, il s?agit de preciser le rapport que cette theorie subreptice entretient avec les failles, contradictions, apories et impenses de la theorie legitime.

You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments. The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post. Payment must be made before delivery; ordered books will be reserved during 12 days in expectation of payment or confirmation of shipment. Payment can be made by transferring money to our Belgian bank; banktransfer IBAN BE48 4098 5839 0127 and the BIC (Bank Identifier Code)(swift) / KREDBEBB , Payment via Paypal account erik.tonen@pandora.be is also possible. Prices are net prices and free of VAT (margin arrangement) and expressed in euros. Shipment and payments costs are charged to the customer. Each shipment contains a delivery slip. Ordered books will remain our property until payment has been received. Our books are shipped in decently packaged form; The state of the books is not specified if the works are in good condtion (smaller, minor defects such as an ex libris stamp, a name on the first page, minimal wear and tear etc. are not specified, unless specifically requested).
