About This Item

London England: Methuen. Hardback. Black cloth with gilt lettering. Introduction - The sources of information for this book are all primary. They come from many original documents: the subject himself, Professor Hugh George Hambleton; a former official associated with the Mossad, the Israeli secret service; and a valuable member of a security service in one of the coutries where proffesor Hambleton operated for the Soviet espionage oprganiazation, the KGB. Long personal knowledge of the Hambleton family accounts for a considwerable portion of the material. There has been much fiction written on this subject and much ignorance shown of the deep penetration by the Soviets into the fabric of Canadian life. Neither the government nor the people have been aware of the depth of subversion by the KGB in Canada, nor have they been able to cope with it. We have been easy pickings, the back door into the United States, the KHB's most important adversary. In high places in government and private and public life, there are people whose back ground and beliefs make them prime targets for subversion, a subversion done so subtly and skilfully that the victim is unaware that he is being cultivated, compromised, until he is part of the Soviet spy network. That is how liberties are first eroded and nations jeopardized. Long before he may be of use, the Russians carefully pick their man. One day, they hope the victim will rise to a position of influence in Western society. When that happens it is already too late. This is the story of such a man. 158 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.). . Very Good. Cloth. First Edition. 1984.
