Annotated second edition, examining American flintlock rifles as works of rococo art made by some of the finest artisans working in early America. These rifles were made in the Appalachian piedmont with distinctly different decorative details on the rifles, as well as different styles of stocks and metal mountings. As an example, Lancaster County Pennsylvania patch boxes often featured a daisy like flower. Large 4to, xii, 561pp, illustrations.
