Three Good Friends by William Wiesner - 1946: An old story retold and illustrated

Decorative matt hardbound pink boards with a colorful illustration from the story on the front board, shows some light wear along all sides with some rubbing to both boards. All corners have some wear and bumping. The black cloth spine back strip is in excellent condition. The spine and hinges are firmly attached, with no cracking to the endpapers. Text block is firm with all stitching intact. Very slight, consistent age tanning throughout. Interior pages are in very good condition with no, tears, chips, cracks, or any previous owner marks. Filled with beautiful intext and full-page color illustrations. Unpaginated but approximately 30 pages. Dimensions: H – 10-1/4" W – 8-1/4"

William Wiesner (1899 – 1984) was a practicing architect and interior designer in Austria where he was born. He migrated to France and then on to the United States in 1941. In partnership with his wife Gertrude, he worked in textile design and began executing murals especially for the Hilton Hotels. By the beginning of the 1960's he was focusing most of his energies on writing and illustrating children's books, of which he has 58 to his credit. His papers are held at the University of Minnesota Libraries.
