London: Cassell, 1896. Hard Cover. 5 x 7 3/8. 160 pp. Subtitled: "All is Not Gold that Glitters." An 1896 morality tale for children. The central character, a young boy-Tim Thomson-"a cripple, and moved about only with grea t difficulty by means of a pair of crutches." Tim is unjustly accused of theft. Lessons are implied through the story: friendship, honesty, truth, deceit, etc. Illustrated with 4 full-page Victorian engravings, annotated. Binding is a lovely sage green cloth on boards with delicate, pale pink and blue flowers arranged around a central, decorated frame holding the book's title. Front cover has min wear to edges. Sturdy spine with bright gilt title, more floral design. Spine slightly faded, dusty. Rear cover has floral; discolouration. Endpapers and first 3 pages have slight foxing. Former owne r's name neatly inscribed. Dark finger smudges on several pages. An extensive 16 page Cassell Pub list at rear of book. Entire book is very tight.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
