A portfolio of the art of Torii Kiyonaga (1752-1815), known for his work in of the Torii school of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings. Many of his works feature beautiful women, Kabuki actors, as well as many shunga (erotic) pieces. The artworks are presented in both black & white and color; many of which fold out. 46 plates, 32 in full color. Text rendered into English by Thomas Kaasa, from the original Japanese text of Sei-Ichiro Takahashi. --- A softcover edition, with French flaps. Volume 8 in the series: "Kodansha Library of Japanese Art". --- Volume is sound and remains tightly-bound, but with age-toning to leaves and covers & with some creasing to spine.; 16mo (6 to 7 in. tall) .
