Toronto: Cassell & Company Ltd, 1956. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good. Scott, Lloyd (maps). 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Full taupe cloth. 262 pp., [8] pp. B&W illustrations. Five decorative maps. Light rubbing to spine ends and corners. Slight bumping to upper corners of first 50 or so pages of text block. Dust jacket is sunned to spine, rubbed to extremities, creased and chipped to top edges, short tears to joints at spine foot. For over three hundred years this place that we call Toronto has been thought of, mapped, visited, occupied, fought over, forgotten, and repossessed. It has been in succession a First Nations village, an English colonial court, struggling frontier town, a factious political area, and an ever faster-growing city whose destiny is impossible to predict.
