Jacobum Willeke & Jacobum De Beunje Leiden 1740 8vo. [16], 267, [20] pp. Eight copperplate engravings. Index. Title page in red and black. Seventh edition, printed in Leiden. In the original Latin. Scarce edition with only 20 copies listed in OCLC (69249848) and no copies offered at auction since 1979. 19th-century rebind in morocco-backed marbled boards and endpapers, gilt spine, ruled in black. Presentation copy from Sir William Osler and dated December 24th, 1908, in Paris. Inscribed on the front blank. Osler was a renowned bibliophile so this copy was likely from his collection. From the ODNB: "Lower's investigations in cardiopulmonary physiology and blood transfusion were summarized in his major work, the Tractatus de corde, containing in its five chapters a succinct exposition of his most important discoveries."
