Description

Sidgwick & Jackson, London, first edition, 1981. Cloth, 8vo, 24 cm,. xi, 240 pplus 8 pof plates. The first book to reveal that the one-time Director General of the Security Service Sir Roger Hollis had twice been investigated as a Soviet penetration agent. Based on material provided by Peter Wright, Pincher's book caused a considerable stir and Pincher himself regarded it as "the scoop pf his lifetime". From the blurb : "In this remarkable and sensational book, Chapman Pincher reveals the extent of Soviet bloc penetration of Britain's top security. He exposes the true extent of the Communist conspiracy to undermine the fabric of British life, and the methods used by Russians and their allies to gain a hold over the vulnerable and the unwary, so that they are prepared to betray their country. He shows how 'Super-moles' and 'Super-spies' have long served in M15, M16, the Foreign Office and defence installations, often reaching the top of their professions and causing untold damage. He shows that even Parliament and the trade unions are not free from this sinister penetration. Fine in Near Fine dustwrapper.
