Very Good+/Very Good. 8vo (8.5"x6"). 169pp. 1/4 bound black cloth & yellow paper-covered boards with giltstamped title to spine. Tail edges rubbed. Slight marked dent to fore-edges. Typographic dust jacket covered in protective mylar: 1/2" closed tear to upper topedge, lightly chipped corners, faded spine, NOT price-clipped. Association copy: belonged to the poet Heather McHugh. Inscribed, "For Heather, Who without her glasses on showed me the spectacle of a small wrecked bicycle and other glorious sights that take up residence in flaws," signed "Wesley" Originally published under the editorship of Toni Morrison, this title was not reprinted until 2021 by McSweeney's for its series "Of the Diaspora". First edition, first printing of the author's first book, signed & dated in the year of publication.
