Andre Gide first published his account of his travels throughout Equatorial Africa in 1927, 1928 under the titles Voyage au Congo and Le Retour du Tchad. A rare and wonderful travelogue, a "concise day-to-day record of things seen and felt and experience--the climate, the living conditions, the French and Belgian colonial administration, the life of the natives in the interior, their customs, rituals, dances, and morality. Translated from the French by Dorothy Bussy. Published first in the U.S. by Alfred A. Knopf in 1929, but here for the first time as a Red Seal Book by Modern Age Books. A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy. Moderately toned interior but clean and unmarked. Pictorial black, white and red covers in gate-fold. 305 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
