Reference to Spain seems to be limited to a side trip to Catalonia, then as now one of the most forward-looking provinces with a strong agricultural base. Volume II is a survey of France with special reference to agriculture, which was the author's special interest. Chapter XVIII, "Of the Police of Corn in France," is concerned with regulation of grain prices, which he believes do not depend upon the quantity of money. Both volumes are firmly bound, and show only normal edge wear to covers. There is no hint of foxing. The map of the Soil of France has a 2-inch tear away from one end of its mounting. Volume I, 681 pp., is dated 1793, while Volume II is dated MDCCXCIII and has 571 pp. plus a 3-page index of Volume II only. Heavy set will need extra postage.. Full Leather.
