The spine of the dustjacket has a crease up the middle ; A tight, solid book, dustjacket in Mylar, unclipped. ; Ex-Library; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 602 pages; George Heriot was appointed Deputy Post Master General in 1799. I would imagine he was required to travel though the colonies. He used his talents as an artist to record his travels. This volume contains a number of foldout reproductions of his artwork including a map of the St. Lawrence River which here appears after the Preface instead at the back in the original publication circa 1808. A large section of the book is devoted to The Manners and Customs of the American Indians with an appendix of words from the Algonquin tongue with English meanings .
